Something that’s becoming increasingly challenging is to differentiate the lines between real metaphysics and popular culture.. and this issue grows exponentially with the speed of the internet.. Some 7 or 8 years ago many callers had been told by their fortune teller they had “karmic relationships”, 5 years ago “soul mates” and in the last few years everyone has a “twin soul”. YES there are real soul connections but no they do not work like this and certainly nobody is born with half of a soul simply waiting to meet the other half…. nor is any connection simply to punish you “karmically”…
The advent of “the secret” brought many people asking to know how they could stop “attracting” trauma into their lives.. Well there are real laws of interaction of energy but they are NOT this sort of stuff – both challenge and reward will come on your path equally – never one without the other as any human can clearly experience, and you sure as heck can’t “attract” just one… Add to this “personal truth” and “pain body’s” and “changing DNA” it can be quite a mess of confusion for people.. Next year it’ll be different stuff and in future years different again because these are popular social trends not works of metaphysics..
These pop things can usually be shown to not stand up to any sort of informed scrutiny and many credible people do shoot them down really easily BUT they are appealing, because they are meant to be…The fortune tellers will push out whatever’s popular and whatever gets the money because their work is a product of social need and trends, they exist because of a need as they always have.. but that is a product of social phenomena not of metaphysics or solid spiritual teaching and growth….
When people approach me and want me to read their situation or work with them in the context of these things, I have the increasingly hard job of explaining that what they are talking about is an entirely different field..and so unfortunately I can’t offer what they want. ‘
Publishing short articles serves as a sort of filter and people say it helps a lot, BUT sadly people often misunderstand and take it as personal arrogance by me when its simply that i work in a different field entirely.. I will stand behind my work 100% and every day I try to find more ways to get the message to people that the split between pop spirituality and solid metaphysics is now a chasm that is widening fast, as trends and marketing exploitation push out the latest “hot thing” faster and more veraciously than ever..
Ultimately hopefully that gulf will be so wide that there won’t ever be any confusion between the two and people will begin to see that what’s popular is not always what’s right or what works, or is what’s healthy.. and sadly all too often quite the opposite …sadly the loser is the person looking for real guidance..
These works all have a place, and I don’t mind that they exist at all, in fact they probably push more people my way than any other phenomenon however please do not see what I write as arrogance, it is not, it is that my work is objective. And objective means that whatever I find to be the issue I will communicate to you without judgment or label or plugging into any popular trend, and it will be delivered compassionately and also directly as I can and I will stand behind what I tell you. I will also offer context and solutions, to give you as much guidance as I can..

I want to thank you for helping me through my long journey to be reunited with my soulmate.
When I first started reading your ebook it was August 2007. I read it almost daily, and it helped me through several tough months where my soulmate kept me at arm’s length and never let me close to him. The stories helped me understand what was happening as no one else could.
In December 2007 you did a reading for me, and recommended that I deny him access to my energy. For 4 months I gave him tough love: ignored him, never called him, didn’t return his calls and refused to meet him. You mentioned perhaps he needed another year to come around. So I waited patiently for it to happen.
One day in March 2008 he suddenly asked me to be his soulmate and thinks we have been lovers in previous incarnations. I told him I was very proud of his realization.
Well, it is now May 30, 2008 and he has finally taken down his defenses. Last week he called me and told me he is tired of being a super human. He wants to be human and wants to be happy (with me). He openly admits and recognizes that we have a connection that can never be broken. The big step has been taken: he knows he can no longer tolerate the pain of staying in his unhappy marriage and he wants to be with me.
This has been the longest, toughest 3 year journey of my life: waiting, hoping, doubting, worrying: every minute, every hour, every day for 3 years. It was the lesson of a lifetime on how to love someone who was in continual denial, who kept pushing me away, and sending out mixed messages. Once he told me he couldn’t live without me, then the next week he withdrew, and told me he was not “the one.” It took all my strength to continue loving him, unconditionally, having no guarantee that we would ever be in a relationship or if he would ever realize that we were meant to be together.
When I couldn’t be with him physically, I learned to be with him spiritually (what choice did I have?) hoping he would show up in my dreams. There were days I missed him so much my heart would literally hurt. I spent entire weekends and holidays in a state of numbness, not knowing where he was and not able to function. I cried so much, eventually I had no tears left.
As the seasons passed, I gathered more strength, my own pain began to heal, and my dependence on him as a source of love diminished. As you advised, I focused on my own life, hoping that my connection and love for him would be eternal.
This was a journey of pain and frustration, and a tough lesson in unconditional love. Without your readings to give me validation, I would have surely gone mad. Few people in this world know how it feels to be in this situation. Most people are quick to pass judgement, and everyone will tell you it is stupid and wrong, to get involved with a married man. If I could have severed the connection, I would have. But in this case, the switch off was impossible. Only those who have met their soulmate understand.
Today I am ecstatic that my soulmate recognizes me and is now willing to start a relationship.

I just wanted to share my story with you which Steve has been a great help in. Most people think they can choose what disciplines to use and that if they believe in them or not affects the outcome, or that there aren’t any disciplines that work for all people alike. Truly they eventually discover that the ones that really work can be counted on the fingers of one foot.
The idea of being able to choose and believe, and like or dislike ( or not ) or to consider there’s something that’s “right for them” but wouldn’t be for someone else is about ego control and that is the barrier to healing.

New faddy diets are always emerging, books are written about these new diets and people are buying them all up as quickly as possible, forgetting all the time that we ALL know that for optimum health we should be eating a balanced diet of natural foods. It is also not long before the newest diet is old news and there is a newer one replacing that. It would be funny if there weren’t so many people’s hopes pinned on better health/weight loss purported by the newest diet craze. Just a little similarity I noticed with what Steve has written. I love the way Steve’s work cuts through the fluff!

In the early 2000s I initiated into a Western Esoteric system with a very powerful spiritual technology that began to change my life in a major way. But even with the early changes behind me, the system began to shine a light on the ugly shadows that were caused by a great deal of emotional wounding. While a fully functioning temple might have been able to guide me through the difficulty, I was working on my own and after years of increasingly unpleasant situations, the path led to meeting my soul connection. I had thought that I knew pain and suffering before because I had gone through many bad situations, but I was not prepared in any way for the suffering the pain of the connection caused, in fact I think only people who undergo spiritual crises can usually understand how agonizing it is to meet your connection and have them push you away.
While the experience led not only to a very numinous initiation in my tradition but the beginning of an art career, I found that over time I could not process the pain. I’d go home every single day and the freshness of being pushed away never died and the pain never lessened. It got to the point where I began to truly fear every single attack of grief and I started to feel like I was going to slip into madness unless I did something about it. So I began researching and ran into the soul mate and twin flame paradigm. Having worked in a practical esoteric system (one whose rituals and meditations actually have instructions), I found 99% or more of what I read to be new age nonsense of the worst sort, yet at the same time I started seeing some similarities to what I was going through. I went through sites channeling Archangel Michael and others that broke down connections into arbitrary categories and then, like I’m sure anyone researching the phenomenon, I came across Steve Gunn. Finally, I thought, soul mates without the fluff and nonsense. I began reading through his articles and the thing that drew my attention had nothing to do with whether I had a connection or not, but that Steve claimed he could help me manage the connection and in particular deal with the pain. At this point I didn’t care about anyone else, I was just tired of endless misery.
Steve has articles on his site about why people don’t like him, but I liked him off the bat. Good spiritual teachers don’t pat you on the head and tell you you’re OK, they challenge you and push you forward, and the last thing I wanted was some dreamy psychic telling me how wonderful my soul connection was and then doing nothing about it. Unlike a reading with what Steve would describe as a ‘fortune teller’ that focuses on external events on which I have no control….Steve’s initial reading focused on what had happened to me, why and what I was to learn from it so that I can take part in my future not sit waiting for it.. and that led into him teaching me techniques how to achieve that.
I don’t know what it’s like for everyone but what Steve taught me worked so fast that I’m still wonderfully bewildered. I went from crying in a fetal position every day to almost no emotional pain in about 2-3 months on techniques that are so simple and effective they almost make a mockery of some of the old technology. Of course my spiritual tradition taught me the idea that if something isn’t working you need to change something and so for me the effectiveness of something is all the proof I need. The irony of all of this is that I felt like I had my depression cured in several months without the use of drugs or analysis or therapy and yet most of the people I know wouldn’t believe me. And it’s not just that you were in a bad state and then you’re OK, the techniques Steve teaches improve your life if you stick with them and every single “unfolding” feels like you just went up a level.
I’ve gone from pure agony from missing my soul connection to being completely OK with where I’m at. I now have opportunities all the time to teach and help people who are in remarkably similar situations. I don’t need validation anymore, even from my teachers in my spiritual tradition. And best of all there’s a tranquility starting to spread that is making me wonder if I’d go through it all again just to get here.
The only thing I worry about with Steve is how often people come up to him and give him sloppy, weepy hugs in appreciation for what he does, so he’s probably lucky he lives on the opposite coast from me. I got my life back and I am so excited about my future that I’m honestly finding it hard to keep up with all the new developments. Most people who go home from the usual psychic will always churn over in their mind whether or not what they say is true, but my happy glow now and the memory of two years of living hell behind me mean I don’t ever have to think about it again. I can just be.
